The placement application

Find your fire, and your stage.

This is a self-assessment before commitment. You will answer honestly, and the application will show you the one stage you are eligible for and what it costs. Then you will submit proof and write a few short essays. It takes about twenty minutes, and it is worth doing carefully. Nothing here is scored by a person until you submit. Ethan reads every application himself and replies within three business days.

A company, an idea, or the intent without one yet. All three are valid.

This does not decide your placement. It calibrates how we read your answers.
Why now, and why does this problem belong to you?
The assessment
Answer for what you have actually done, not what you intend. The strongest answers require evidence you can show, and you will be asked for it later. Be honest: placing too high sets you up to fail.
The thirty-day test
One scenario. There are no wrong words here; write plainly.

Thirty days ago, an investor gave you hard, specific feedback: your core assumption is probably wrong, and here is exactly why. It is now thirty days later and you are back in the room. What would you have done, and what would you put on the table today?

You start at $1,250 per five-week block
Paid five weeks at a time. The rate rises by stage as you advance: Seeker $1,250, Builder $2,500, Sovereign $3,750 — each a five-week block. Cancel anytime to stop future blocks; blocks already paid aren’t refunded.
Proof
Substantiate the claims you made at the top level. Upload a document, a screenshot, or a link in the notes. Anything you claimed but cannot support will not count.
Essays
Write these yourself. They are read closely, and they are designed to show whether the words are yours. Roughly 250 words each.
1. The specific scene
One real conversation, with a customer, co-founder, or investor, that changed what you are doing. Name the person or their role, where you were, what they said, and what you did next.
2. The honest failure
Something you got wrong that cost you time, money, or a relationship. What you believed, what happened, and what it changed in you.
3. Your non-obvious truth
The one thing about your space, customer, or model that is true, that you learned the hard way, and that most people would disagree with.
